WELCOME
Nickel Back Farm is nestled in Willowbrook, a quiet horse community located in Oliver, British Columbia. The South Okanagan region boasts some of the finest wineries, orchards and warmest lakes in Canada.
Backing onto Crown land, we enjoy miles of protected riding trails. This is prime endurance-training country, providing breathtaking views from areas accessible primarily by horseback.
Nickel Back Farm is proud to offer an amazing, gaited breed of horse known as the Rocky Mountain. These gentle, smooth-as-silk horses will take your breath away. Their beauty, marvelous temperament and effortless four-beat gait makes them the ideal trail, endurance, cattle, 4-H or family pleasure horse.
Originally bred as a working horse in the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky, USA, Rocky Mountain horses are admired for their unsurpassed work ethic. Willing, brave and intelligent, these horses are as beautiful in the show ring as they are comfortable climbing up the side of a mountain.
Rockies are born with a Cadillac smooth four-beat gait. You can actually count 1-2-3-4 as you listen to a Rocky walking. One foot remains on the ground at all times, eliminating the bounce often associated with a trotting horse. This gait is not only comfortable, it is ideal for riders with hip or back pain. We say you can ride a Rocky and sip a cup of tea without spilling a drop...or is it a glass of Pinot Noir?
Best known for their signature chocolate coat and flaxen mane & tail, Rocky Mountain horses come in a variety of colors and heights ranging from 14'2 to 16 hands. There is a Rocky for every rider.
Nickel Back Farm is a small, family owned and operated facility with a limited number of Rockies available each year. Our horses are handled daily, trail ridden regularly and are raised in a natural environment. The result is a well rounded, confident horse that will warm your heart.
Nickel Back Farm is centrally located; only a four hour scenic drive east of Vancouver, 30 minutes north of the Washington State border and 8 hours west of Alberta.
Come out for a visit; soak up the sunshine at the lake, sip a Chardonnay at the local vineyard and meet our mascots, Maverick & Majic.
